Rice Mill Machine Project

Donate to the Rice Mill Machine Project because, despite producing rice in the villages for their daily bread, these humble women are constantly dealing with blisters in their hands as they try every day to grind rice with pestles and mortar.

Thus, hand pounding of paddy in a mortar with a pestle is an outdated milling process in remote villages and it is traditionally considered a woman’s job. The process induces upward and downward forces on grain against the grain that remove the husk and bran layers.

The cost for one Rice Mill is $2,000.

Often during the process, the women have to deal with blisters on their palms and lose their breath and energy as they use all their energy to pound, especially if they have a traditional feast or a special ceremony that requires a lot of meals. However, the rice-grinding machine will change all that.

This small compact rice-grinding machine will not only allow them to have healthy hands but also save time and generate revenues. It will replace the enormous labor which comes with pounding hundreds of bushels of husk rice to feed as well as for sale in the local markets.

If given the opportunity to own a grinding machine, the women plan on charging a symbolic fee of about 50 cents for every kilogram of rice ground. The money collected from the will be used to buy fuel, spare parts, engine oil and to pay allowances to our operators.  They also plan to invest funds in agriculture and trade.

The cost for one Rice Mill is $ 2,000, therefore, we ask you to please join our efforts in helping to sponsor 3 Rice Mills for three villages.  It is our hope that you will donate generously to this noble cause. Please donate generously to the project and help change lives.
